Fulbright logo The Haenicke Institute for Global Education is pleased to announce three Fulbright events on campus April 7 and 8 to introduce the Fulbright scholars on campus this year and to educate faculty and staff about the Fulbright Program and its grants.

Dr. Andrew Riess
, senior program officer - Recruitment at the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), will offer two workshops on the Fulbright Program. The workshops are offered free of charge, though space is limited and an RSVP is required (details follow).

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF –Workshop is planned for Tuesday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Bernhard Center Room 208, and will cover the following topics:

•    Learn about lecturing and research opportunities in more than 130 countries
•    Get advice on which country to apply to and how to make contacts abroad
•    Learn how to prepare the Fulbright application
•    Explore how your campus can host visiting foreign Fulbright scholars

FOR CHAIRS, DEANS AND SENIOR ADMINISTRATORS–The second workshop is planned from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in the Bernhard Center Room 204. This workshop is designed to highlight the benefits of the Fulbright Program not only to WMU faculty, but also to their department, the University and the greater Kalamazoo community.  The workshop will cover how the program aids faculty in the following areas:

•    Discovering new research directions
•    Gaining new teaching insights
•    Sharing knowledge
•    Understanding their discipline in a global context
•    Meeting international colleagues and establish long-term professional  relationships
•    Can allow a faculty family to experience a foreign culture
•    Representing WMU and the United States overseas
