WMU welcomes Netherlands business professor |
WMU welcomes Netherlands business professor Professor Gilbert Silvius of the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, is visiting WMU from Dec. 5 to Dec. 10 to meet with WMU business professors about a possible shared research project on the future of project management and short-term faculty exchanges. Silvius also hopes to recruit some WMU students to study at his home university, which is an exchange partner of WMU.
Visit itinerary
WMU began a student exchange relationship with Hogeschol van Utrecht in 2004-2005 and has exchanged a number of students. Professor Silvius visited WMU in December 2006 as part of the development of a new internationally focused undergraduate program in Utrecht. Four Utrecht students are studying at WMU for the 2007 Fall semester: Oscar Daniel Garcia Bergkamp, Sietske Krikke, Brenda Schipper, and Mariska Van den Berg.
Silvius oversees a Master of Informatics program for students with three years working experience. The program has three specialization tracks: Business IT Alignment, Information Systems Architecture and Global IT Sourcing. Courses include: Strategic Management, (e )Marketing, Business Process Management, IT Trends, Information Economics, Information Architecture, IT Planning & Control, etc.
A research project on the future of project management may be of special interest to WMU colleagues.
Objectives of Professor Silvius' visit:
- Visit Utrecht students and assess their experience at WMU
- Recruit WMU students to study on exchange for one semester at Utrecht
- Share research projects (future of project management)
- Invite WMU HCOB faculty to guest lecture in the Masters of Informatics program in Utrecht (1-2 week residency)
- Discuss faculty exchange (short-term) in IT, IT economics or Business IT Alignment.
