passport If you're considering studying abroad, now is the time to update your knowledge on these essential travel documents.

We strongly suggest that you apply for a passport as soon as you begin to consider studying abroad. If you already have a passport, it is important to check the expiration date, as the passport should be valid a minimum of 6 months after the end of your program. If you need a new passport or need to renew an expired passport, we suggest that you apply a minimum of 12 weeks prior to your departure.

The application costs $97 for a routine passport, whether you are requesting a new one or replacing an expired one. If you need the passport in a shorter time period, you may request expedited processing, which will take 4-6 weeks and will cost an additional $60. VISAS

Please keep in mind that many countries require visas for students wishing to study at one of their universities. The visa process can take a few months, and they require that you provide your passport for the visa processing. New bill proposes September as National Passport Month

The United States House of Representatives unanimously passed HR 554 on September 5, which would declare every September as National Passport Month.
