We have established the policy for the submission of applications to International Admissions and Services (IAS) for processing. This policy is to ensure the timely filing of WMU non-immigrant applications with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, State Department and Labor Department to avoid late filings that can be detrimental to the scholar's immigration status.

- E-3 Applications: no earlier than 6 months in advance bot no later than 1 1/2 month prior to the status expiration date/start of employment
- O-1 Applications: no earlier than 6 months in advance bot no later than 1 1/2 month prior to the status expiration date/start of employment
- J-1 Applications: no earlier than 3 months in advance bot no later than 3 weeks prior to the status expiration date/start of employment
- TN Applications: no earlier than 2 months in advance bot no later than 3 weeks prior to the status expiration date/start of employment
- PR Applications: consult with the Immigration and Policy Research Officer in IAS as soon as possible
