Eri, a native of Hiroshima, Japan, joined the study abroad staff in August 2009 as a study abroad coordinator. She has studied Mandarin Chinese and earned her bachelor's degree at WMU in fine arts, with a major in ceramics and a minor in printing and paper management. She is in the process of completing her master's degree in college counseling.

Before joining the Study Abroad office, she was employed at WMU University Libraries for 7 and a half years, where she last worked as a monograph materials coordinator. She is also a part-time kindergarten teacher for Battle Creek Japanese School. Eri originally came to the United States as a study abroad student in WMU's CELCIS program to learn English and has been a resident of California and Michigan. She is a firm believer in international studies and education and looks forward to working with WMU students and faculty preparing for international experiences.
