Student Recreation Center
The Western Michigan University Student Recreation Center
(SRC) exists to provide and supervise quality recreation, intramural,
and fitness programs and facilities designed to enhance and contribute
to the development of the total person in a stress free environment
that promotes healthy life-style choices, team building and leadership
skills, and opportunities for positive social interaction.
The SRC is a state of the art facility that is over
240,000 square feet. The most recent renovations were completed in 1994
at the cost of approximately 32 million dollars. On an average day
during the Fall and Winter semesters, the SRC will accommodate
approximately 3,200 visitors. Recreational opportunities include
basketball, volleyball, swimming, jogging, weight lifting, table
tennis, badminton, golf, racquetball, tennis, aerobics, soccer, and
more.
The SRC is a great place to meet with and interact
with otehr students who share the same goal of fitness and
extra-curricular activity. There are numerous inter-mural sports teams
available to students as a chance to keep fit while making friends.
Many compare the SRC to a full access gym/spa membership without the
high-priced enrollment fees because all the facilities are free to WMU
students.
