12th century literature in Japan topic of April 9 talk
Dr. Saeko Shibayama, a postdoctoral fellow from Columbia University working in Berlin, Germany, will present a talk titled, "The Convergence of "Ways": The Twilight of Early Chinese Literary Studies and the Rise of Waka Studies in the Long Twelfth in Century Japan," from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Monday, April 9 in Brown Hall Room 3025. Shibayamama will speak about the shifts in textual production during this era of profound cultural change. Her campus visit is sponsored by the Japan Foundation and WMU's Soga Japan Center and Department of Foreign Languages.
