Obtaining a passport key to study abroad |
Passports & Visas We strongly suggest that you apply for a passport as soon as you begin to consider studying abroad. If you already have a passport, it is important to check the expiration date, as the passport should be valid a minimum of 6 months after the end of your study abroad program. If you need a new passport or need to renew an expired passport, we suggest that you apply a minimum of 8 weeks or more prior to your departure.
The fee to apply for a new passport book is $135; the fee to renew an expired passport is $110. If you need the passport in a shorter time period, you may request expedited processing, which will take 2-3 weeks and will cost an additional $60. VISAS Please keep in mind that many countries require visas for students wishing to study at their universities.
