Freeman-ASIA Scholarship Print E-mail

This is a scholarship designed to encourage students to study abroad in Asian countries and study Asian languages. Eligible study abroad programs must be a minimum of 8 weeks. Freeman-ASIA award benefits are determined by the length of the program. Awards will be paid directly to the student, according to the following fixed amounts only: Summer - $3,000, Semester - $5,000, Academic Year - $7,000.
If program costs are less than the award amount (or covered by existing financial aid) students can use the Freeman-ASIA award to cover related expenses such as airfare, living costs, books, etc. There are three application deadlines throughout the year. Consult the following website for more information: http://www.iie.org/pgms/freeman-asia/ and complete an online application. As part of the application process, WMU students must meet with the WMU Freeman-ASIA representative.

Application deadline is usually mid-January.
