Camper's Night Out
Due to popular demand, 15 WMU international and CELCIS students had the opportunity to experience U.S.-style camping in an overnight trip to Pretty Lake Adventure Center on August 1, hosted by the International Student Activities office. The students enjoyed a traditional camping adventure, including a nature hike in the woods, discovering wild berry patches and cooking dinner over an open fire. ![]() After dinner, the students were entertained with campfire stores and the making of S'mores, which consist of a campfire-roasted marshmallow and a slab of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker. "We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful location like Pretty Lake so close to campus," said Stephen Wood, international programming intern, who accompanied the students on the trip. "The weather was perfect for Michigan camping at its finest. We wanted students to experience how much fun camping could be, and many of the students said they want to go camping again before classes start in September."
