My name is Marta Halaczkiewicz, but my students call me Mrs. H. (can you blame them?). I joined the CELCIS faculty in January 2008 and have been loving it ever since. However, my love for teaching started in Poland, my native country. I attended English Teacher Training College at University of Warsaw before I came to Michigan to pursue my other passion – communication. I have a BA degree in Communication Arts and a MA in TESOL both acquired from Madonna University in Livonia, MI.

Besides teaching and interpersonal communication, I greatly enjoy outdoor recreation like camping, hiking, biking, rollerblading and anything to do with nature. A good book is a must for me and a movie is a nice way of spending time. Most of my favorite titles fall into either fantasy, or science-fiction categories, but a good laugh or a thrill will do fine, too. I love traveling and seeing new places, but I think meeting new people and learning from them is what I like the most. So make sure you come and talk to me about your home country and bring some pictures too.

I am always ready to assist you with your academic needs, but not only; As a former international student I know how difficult it is to find oneself so far from your friends, family, and culture so you can always feel free to come by and just talk. Hope to see you in CELCIS soon.
