Welcome to the Career English Language
Center for International Students
WMU's Intensive ESL Program

CELCIS classes prepare students to study in American colleges and university and help professionals improve their English for work.

Students can study in one of four* levels: Elementary, Intermediate, Pre-Advanced, and Advanced. All students, in all levels, will study 3 classes a day. There is a speaking and listening class for one hour a day and a grammar and communication class for one hour a day. Also, students will study reading and writing for two hours a day. So, students are in class 20 hours a week. After classes, there are social activities for students to practice speaking and field trips to learn about Kalamazoo and the United States.

* A Pre-Elementary level is offered in semesters and sessions when there is sufficient number of students with placement scores below Elementary, the program entry level.
