President's Grant for Study Abroad
deadline Oct. 15

The President's Grant for Study Abroad is designed for students who plan to study a foreign language overseas and who can demonstrate significant academic preparation for their project (please see specific eligibility criteria on the application form). The award is primarily based on financial need with smaller grants awarded for merit only.  The Haenicke Institute administers these scholarships for foreign-language based study abroad from an endowment worth $4.8 million.

The highest recent award was $11,000 for an academic year abroad. There is an application deadline every semester for studying abroad the following semester or academic year. The deadlines are March 15 to study abroad the following fall semester or academic year and October 15 to study abroad the following spring semester. Download the application here (PDF version), or here (MS Word document).
