Study Abroad Programs

More than 500 WMU students participate annually in study abroad programs in 30-plus countries. Programs are available for undergraduates and graduates in a broad spectrum of disciplines for an academic year, one semester, or short-term summer programs. Language-intensive study abroad programs are offered in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Russian and Spanish.

In addition to WMU programs, students can participate in programs offered through the reputable providers listed on the non-WMU programs page linked below, as long as the program is not in a location where WMU offers a program. WMU students attending non-WMU study abroad programs are required to complete an application with the WMU Study Abroad office to ensure credit for all courses taken overseas will transfer to WMU and count toward their degrees.

The Study Abroad office also assists students in applying for international internships and independent study programs.
